Sonic Generations[]

Sonic Generations is a 2011 2D/3D platform video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS. It was released to celebrate Sonic's 20th anniversary since the franchise started in 1991 with Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. The game involves mixing traditional 2D side-scrolling gameplay with 3D Sonic Unleashed-style free-roaming platforming. The story is that Sonic's past self, called "Classic Sonic", is exploring Green Hill one day when he is suddenly sucked into a dark vortex. In the present day, Sonic (this Sonic referred to as "Modern Sonic") is celebrating his birthday with his friends, only to be eventually sucked into the strange vortex as well. Failing to fight off the black hole, Modern Sonic wakes up to fight himself in a white void of nothingness, apparently known as "White Space". Sonic looks over to find a cluster of land that looks like Green Hill with the color taken out of it. Sonic sets off to investigate, not knowing that his past self is setting off to do the same.
