Super Mario Bros. is a 1985 video game made by Nintendo. The storyline of the game is that King Bowser has, out of envy, invaded the Mushroom Kingdom, kidnapped Princess Toadstool and transformed all of the kingdom's residents into various inanimate objects. Brothers Mario and Luigi hear about this and set off to defeat Bowser, rescue the Princess and restore prosperity to the Mushroom Kingdom. The objective of the game is to navigate through several worlds whilst either defeating or evading enemies, and there are power-ups to help you along the way. Super Mario Bros. is generally considered to be the game that saved the video game industry from the video game crash of 1983, as well as the industry as a whole. What made this game so famous is the introduction of characteristics in gaming that are still used today, such as the side-scrolling mechanic, hidden secrets within levels and the advancement of the platforming genre.
